Zest Quest Asia was founded as the ‘Asian Junior Chefs Challenge’ by London-based restauranteurs
Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala in 2013 in collaboration
with the Master Chefs of Great Britain.
The first competition finals took place in 2014,
after which it was re-branded and known as Zest Quest Asia.
The founders envisioned Zest Quest Asia as a culinary
competition that would help raise the profile of Asian cuisine
and cookery as a future career for budding chefs in Britain.
Zest Quest Asia would also be a ground-breaking step
towards battling the growing skills shortage in the UK’s
professional Asian kitchens.
An ultimate goal for Zest Quest Asia is the enshrinement of
classical Asian cookery in the school and college curriculum.
So far, 6 ambitious colleges represented by hard-working teams
of 3 and their tutors have won the Zest Quest Asia title,
beating other finalists at a cook off and knowledge presentation.
Each year the winners enjoy at least one week in an exciting
Asian culinary capital. Zest Quest Asia’s champions have visited
New Delhi/Mumbai, Bangkok, Colombo, Tokyo/Osaka and Hanoi & Manila.
Zest Quest Asia enjoys invaluable support from many corners of the hospitality and catering industry. Some of the hospitality industry’s leading lights have given their time to judge
